What is the VMware Sovereign Cloud Partner Initiative?

VMware have recently launched a Sovereign Cloud Partner initiative. Through this programme, VMware is partnering with cloud service providers who deliver cloud services on sovereign digital infrastructure to customers in government or regulated industries.

Partners included in this initiative can support customers solving complex IT challenges – especially those that require secure, sovereign data services. 

What is the process to become a partner?

In recognition of the importance of sovereign cloud solutions to government and critical national industry organisations, VMware have developed a Sovereign Cloud framework. The purpose of the framework is to define the key characteristics of a sovereign cloud:

  • data sovereignty and jurisdictional control,
  • data access and integrity,
  • data security and compliance,
  • data independence and mobility, and
  • data innovation and analytics.

Partners – like AUCloud – who wish to become a VMware Sovereign Cloud Partner apply for assessment of their infrastructure and the design, build and operation of their cloud environments to determine whether they meet the Sovereign Cloud framework, and other requirements.
